I am going to do some pretty extensive tests on these things once I get my pool good and clean. I bought the small 12 lb and the large 20lb release. I have read a little about these and some people seem to think they are a gimmick. I plan on attaching the lure I put them on to 10 lbs of weights and dragging them across the bottom to simulate a large fish, and see if they will pull free. Then I will be testing to make sure the release when they are supposed to (before line breaks) buy securing the lure to something under water. I will finish this review once I have done these.
One of the most realistic soft plastic frogs on the market, the Rude Frog supposedly solves one of the most vexing problems for fishermen: rolling. If the lure rolls upside down during the retrieve, all an angler needs to do is stop the lure, and it will turn upright. Also, the lure is made of a soft but durable soft plastic, enabling it to stand up to numerous fish.
I have used these on about 6 trips so far. I like them a lot, but they are just a little too heavy. They have to be reeled a little too fast and it causes a lot of short strikes. These would be my absolute favorite if they could add some buoyancy to them and maybe turn the feet outward.
I almost don’t want to let the cat out of the bag with this review. I bought a few of these the other night, but the ones I really wanted were out of stock. I got a couple of the long skinny ones and can’t wait to go back when they got some of the fat blue gill and sunfish. Ok, these things are as good or better in some cases than any 25.00 dollar swimbait I have seen. The pictures ought to speak for themselves, they come in 3 ½” and 4 ½” and 7 colors, that I know of. Right know you can only buy them in the Academy Sports store for 7.99 to 8.99, or on ebay with a jacked up price of 15.99 or higher. They are part of a line of baits called H2O Xpress. They have a many more types, that cost less than 4.00, some looking identical to Luckycraft brand, which sells for 14.99. I wished I would have visited Academy sports a lot sooner, they had a sell on the jointed ones, where you got 6 for like 29.99, if I remember correctly.
I love this reel, now i know why my dad used to use so many abu garcia's.

Have been using these on every bass rod I own with every kind of lure I can think of for about 9 months now. They are a little too small on big kooks, like for frogs, I think if they had a little rounder shape on the end it would solve that problem. Otherwise, I really like these, have brought in a 7 pounder and two 5 pounders using them with no problems.
