I think that a lot of our fishing know how comes from what our fathers or someone else taught us. However, it is unlikely they were able to teach us everything they knew about fishing probably because of our lack of patience. One such handy little doodad I never learned about is a bobber stop. You may not think that something so simple and tiny is not worthy for a topic of discussion on a website, but for someone who has never used one before it can be a miraculous little discovery. What is a bobber stop? It is a tiny little piece of rubber that you thread your line through. What’s so great about that? Well, say you are fishing in 20 feet of water for fish that are 17 feet deep and you have a 6 foot rod. As you very well may know, trying to through 17 feet of line dangling from the tip of a 6 foot rod aint easy. And, that brings us to how this little device accomplishes 2 tasks at once. These little things are so tiny that they can be reeled up through the eyes of your rod and into your reel and cast back out without ever causing a snag and then as your line slips through your bobber it reaches the stop and you bait is at the exact depth you want it.
